(COCHRANE, ON) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) James Bay Detachment are investigating a fatal snowmobile collision in the Town of Cochrane.
On March 14, 2026, at approximately 9:00 a.m., James Bay OPP officers, along with medical emergency services, responded to a report of a collision involving a snowmobile and a commercial motor vehicle at the intersection of Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (OFSC) Trail A and 2nd Street in Cochrane.
The snowmobile driver, a 19-year-old male from Vaughan, was transported to hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Members of the Ontario Provincial Police Technical Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) Team, along with OPP Scenes of Crime Officers (SOCO), are assisting with the ongoing investigation, in coordination with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario.
OFSC Trail A was closed in both directions approaching 2nd Street, and 2nd Street was closed between Nakita Avenue and Western Avenue (Highway 579) while investigators examined the scene.
