(MUNICIPALITY OF TRENT LAKES, ON) – Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have made an arrest after an individual was located rummaging through a vehicle.
On Saturday March 7, 2026, just prior to 9:00pm, Peterborough County OPP officers received a call regarding an individual who was found going through a vehicle. The caller approached the individual believing the vehicle did not belong to them. Upon contact, the individual attempted to leave the area, but the caller managed to keep them at the scene and called police.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with the accused and located various items on their possession that did not belong to them. The accused at that point, was arrested and transported to the Peterborough County OPP detachment.
Ronald WRETHAM (age 38) of Trent Lakes, ON., was arrested and charged with;
• Theft under $5,000
• Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
• Fail to comply with Probation Order
The accused was held for Bail.
The OPP encourage people to follow simple steps to deter your vehicle from becoming a target.
• Always roll up your vehicle windows and lock the doors.
• Park your vehicle in a garage where possible or at least in a well-lit area.
• Never leave valuables in plain view and place bags or packages in the trunk.
• Never leave your keys in your vehicle.
