(ORILLIA, ON) – Two separate traffic stops have resulted in vehicle impoundments in one evening after investigations completed by officers of the Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).
On March 9, 2026, just before 8:40 pm, an officer was conducting proactive patrols along Highway 11 Southbound in Oro-Medonte Township when they observed a vehicle travelling at a notably high rate of speed. Utilizing a speed measuring device, the vehicle was found to be travelling at 160 km/hr in a posted 90 km/hr zone. A traffic stop was conducted, and the officer noted several other traffic related offences.
As a result of the interaction, a 23-year-old of Oro-Medonte is facing the following HTA and CAIA charges:
– Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt – Excessive Speed (HTA),
– Speeding (HTA),
– Drive Motor Vehicle – No Licence (HTA),
– Fail to Surrender Insurance Card (CAIA), and
– Novice Driver – B.A.C Above Zero (HTA)
The vehicle was impounded for 14 days, and their licence was suspended for a period of 30 days, and the driver was served with a future court date to answer to the charges.
Shortly thereafter, at 8:45 pm, officers of the Orillia OPP responded to a traffic complaint called in by a member of the community. Officers began patrolling the area of Annalyse Drive and Orion Boulevard in the City of Orillia, where they located the suspect vehicle. Upon completing a traffic stop, officers entered into an impaired operation investigation based on the information from the member of the public, as well as the driver’s behaviour. The driver was arrested and transported back to the Orillia Detachment for further testing.
As a result of the investigation, Myles CROZIER, 20-year-old of Oro-Medonte, has been charged with the following:
– Operation while Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs (CC), and
– Operation while Impaired – 80 Plus (CC)
The accused was released with a future court date. Additionally, their driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days, and vehicle impounded for 7 days.
