(GANANOQUE, ON) – A driver is facing an impaired driving charge after an Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer spotted a vehicle being operated dangerously on Highway 401.
On Tuesday, February 17, 2025, shortly after 6:30 p.m., an off-duty Leeds County member observed a pick-up truck being driven recklessly on Highway 401 and alerted on-duty officers. The vehicle and driver were located at a business in Gananoque.
Officers attended the location and the driver was subsequently placed under arrest when they registered a fail on the roadside screening device.
As a result of the investigation, 81-year-old Faye IBBITSON of Kingston has been charged with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration.
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville on March 20, 2026. Their driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
