(WEST NIPISSING, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested and charged a driver with impaired operation after a traffic stop with a vehicle having an obstructed rear view.
On Monday February 16, 2026, at approximately 10:30 p.m., members from the Nipissing West Detachment of the OPP, conducted a traffic stop with a pick-up truck that had snow obstructing the rear view of the vehicle and failed to stop for a stop sign on Nipissing Street, West Nipissing.
The driver was arrested for impaired driving and a search of the vehicle located open liquor.
As a result of the investigation, Joseph MCALISTER, 60 years-of-age, from West Nipissing, was charged with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol
- Insecure load
- Disobey stop sign – fail to stop
- Fail to surrender insurance card
- Fail to notify change of address
- Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor
The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on March 5, 2026, in North Bay.
The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
