(Orangeville, ON) – Members of the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are currently investigating an attempt murder in Orangeville.
On February 13, 2026, at approximately 11:00 p.m., OPP officers responded to a call for a disturbance at an address in Orangeville. Officers located two people inside the residence suffering from serious injuries. The preliminary investigation determined that both victims sustained injuries consistent with a stabbing. One victim was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre with life threatening injuries. The other victim’s injuries were deemed minor in nature.
An officer with the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police sustained minor injuries while effecting the arrest of the accused.
As a result of the investigation, Nathan ARSENAULT, 31-year-old from Trenton, Ontario, has been charged with the following:
· Attempt to commit murder
· Assault with a weapon
· Assault a peace officer
The accused was transported to Dufferin Detachment and will be held pending a bail hearing.
There is no threat to public safety.
