Drinking ATV Operator Gets 3 Day Suspension

(TOWNSHIP OF SOUTHGATE, ON) – On May 27, 2018 at approximately 4:05 p.m., a member of the Grey County Ontario Police (OPP) observed an ATV being operated eastbound on Grey Road 14 west of Cedarville in the Township of Southgate. The operator of the ATV was not wearing a helmet.

Once stopped, the officer detected an odor of alcohol emanating from the driver. The driver provided a sample of his breath into an approved roadside screening device and registered a fail”. He was transported to the Markdale Detachment for a breath test which registered a “warn range”. The ATV was towed.

57-year old Daniel KINGSLAND of the Township of Southgate was served a three-day driver’s licence suspension. He was charged with failing to wear a proper helmet under the Off Roads Vehicle Act and fail to surrender licence under the Highway Traffic Act.”
