OPP Claim Assaulted During Arrest – ZIEGLER Charged

(MIDDLESEX, ON) – On Sunday January 17, 2021 at 11:13 p.m. a member of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop in the area of Clarke Side Rd and Trafalgar St. in the City of London, where it was confirmed that the driver of the motor vehicle was wanted on an outstanding warrant, issued by the Grey Bruce OPP.

Upon attempting to effect the arrest, to driver began to resist police and a struggle ensued. The driver was safely placed under arrest and transported to the London OPP detachment where he was later released from police custody.

As a result of an investigation police have charged Justin ZIEGLER – age 31- of London, ON with:

  • Resist a Peace Officer as per section 129(a) of the Criminal Code.

The accused was also arrested, charged and released from police custody on the outstanding warrant issued by the Grey Bruce OPP for the offence of:

  • CC 380(1)(b) Fraud Under $5000

The accused is scheduled to appear in an Ontario Court of Justice on March 25th, 2021 to speak to the charges.
