(SAUGEEN FIRST NATION, ON) – On January 9, 2021 at 8:25 p.m., Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a car that was weaving into oncoming traffic and crossing the centre line on Joshua Crescent, near Highway 21, in Saugeen First Nation.
OPP officers spoke with the driver, who showed signs of impairment from drugs. The driver was arrested for impaired driving and was transported to Grey Bruce OPP detachment in Wiarton for testing by a Drug Recognition Expert.
During a search of the arrested person and the involved vehicle, OPP officers located drugs and a weapon.
Grey Bruce OPP have charged Christian COLE, 25 years-of-age from Saugeen Shores, with the following offences:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, section 320.14(1)(a) Criminal Code of Canada (CCC)
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, section 88 CCC
- Possession of a Schedule I substance – Fentanyl, section 4(1) Controlled Drugs and Substance Act (CDSA)
- Possession of a Schedule I substance – Oxycodone, section 4(1) CDSA
The accused must attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on February 24, 2021.
