Attempted Murder In Mitchell – Two Sent To Hospital

(WEST PERTH, ON) – A suspicious residential fire investigation conducted by members of the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Crime Unit with the assistance of the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal (OFM) and the OPP Forensic Identification Service has led to one person facing a number of charges.

On February 11, 2021, just before 9:30 a.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), West Perth Fire Department, and the Perth County Paramedic Services responded to a fire at an apartment building on St. David Street in Mitchell.

Two adults were transported to hospital, one with minor injuries, and a second person with serious injuries.

As a result of the investigation, Roger PYNE, 27 years of age of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with:

  • Attempt to Commit Murder
  • Arson – Disregard for Human Life
  • Possession of Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order (three counts)

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
